Bethany and the Support Worker

Bethany had been considering accessing counselling for 6 months before she plucked up the courage to use our “contact us” form on our website. Bethany had never had counselling before, and felt it was time she addressed the way she was feeling. She felt there was no harm in asking for help.

Bethany shared that she was struggling with an abusive relationship breakdown and was hoping to get some support to rebuild her life.

After an initial assessment, Bethany was able to access up to 10 funded counselling sessions. While she waited, she was contacted by Jo, Simply Counselling’s support worker. Jo checked in with Bethany regularly via text to offer her support while she waited for the counselling to become available. Bethany found this really helpful and felt pleased that someone cared.

Although Bethany felt she was coping, she knew that should she need support while she waited, she could take Jo up on her offer and talk via the phone or meet for a coffee to talk things through. Bethany was allocated to a counsellor within 8 weeks of completing the referral process and is wanting to grow in confidence and rebuild her life after a traumatic relationship.
