ML
I am the CEO and founder. In 2006 I was fortunate to have the opportunity to set up Simply Counselling supported by a cohort of counsellors as I felt strongly that counselling should be accessible to everyone from all walks of life who needed it.

I believe that everyone is uniquely themselves and often we are too busy to understand what we need and want in order to function well; counselling gives us the opportunity to explore and understand ourselves better so that we can feel more at ease in our skin, and the opportunity to reach our full potential. I specialise in Couple and Family work as well as long-term counselling with an individual. I have many years of experience working with a diverse range of people many of whom have had deep seated trauma and I feel deeply moved / honoured / privileged witnessing their courage and commitment to changing their lives. This is a great change from owning a laundry business in Greece!

The desire for change, either from the difficulties of a sudden crisis, or more long-term feelings of discomfort, low self-esteem, anxiety or depression can be very powerful. We can easily get lost in the chaos of our thoughts and feelings and counselling can be an effective way of gaining clarity. I believe that we all know what we need in order to achieve a greater sense of well-being and counselling can help us to tune into and listen to that inner wisdom. I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I have learnt a number of different ways of working and so can tailor your sessions to suit your individual needs.

Within every single one of us there is the potential to live our lives well, whatever our
individual histories or current circumstances and however big or small we perceive
our problems to be. I work from a Person-Centred approach, which means I do my best to hear you so I can understand you from your unique perspective, accepting you and valuing you as a whole person – even the bits you might not feel okay about. I will not judge you. If something doesn’t make sense to me, I will check it out rather than make an assumption about your experience. I know from the start that I won’t have the
answers to the problems you might be having so I won’t be giving advice or making
suggestions. I believe you have the capacity to find the resolution that works for you
(although you may not know it yet) and that together we will find it.
I offer Single Session Therapy (in a Person-Centred way) to clients who don’t want
or need more than a single session. This doesn’t mean you can’t come back if you
want to, or if you find you need more help, but there is no commitment to long-term
work unless you want to do that. The Single Session Therapy approach tends to
have a narrower, but sharper focus. I will work with you to find out what is getting in
your way towards a solution and to discover the resources you already have
available to address your problem. The aim is for you to leave the session with
some clarity about what your next steps will be. I have been practising as a counsellor for 7 years in Plymouth and Cornwall. I gained my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2019 working with adult clients. I completed my Level 5 Diploma in Working Therapeutically with Children and Young People in 2023 and work with clients as young as 5. My only regret is that I didn’t start counselling earlier – I love this work.

Sara
I am a yoga and breathwork teacher and facilitator base in SW Devon and Integrative Counsellor. I use all the skills I have learned in training across multiple holistic modalities to hold a safe, non-judgemental and grounded space for clients, where they can bring and explore whatever they need, to help them move forward toward a more settled and empowered place.

Ania
I offer a warm, non-judgmental and safe counselling space. I am driven by learning and curiosity and started my counselling journey with a B.Sc in Psychology before studying Integrative Counselling. One of my favourite quotes is from the relationship expert Esther Perel who says “The quality of your life ultimately depends on the quality of your relationships”. This is also true for therapy and my philosophy is grounded in creating a trusting relationship with the client at the centre. I am truly passionate about what I do and I always feel honoured when people share their stories with me and we work together through whatever difficulties and challenges you are facing.

Grace
I trained as an Integrative Counsellor which means I draw on several models of therapy in my practice. My work with clients includes issues around sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic abuse, anger management and troubled relationships. My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental and supportive. I take my lead from my clients, believing that they are the experts in themselves and that it's my job to work with each person in the way that suits her/him/them best. I have seen how effective counselling can be and feel honoured to be part of that therapeutic journey.

My journey into being a counsellor began when I personally had counselling. Curious as to why it had helped me, I began studying many of the various methodologies, which is reflected in my integrative work with my clients. I offer a warm, friendly, safe space in which to explore whatever is troubling you, the session time is yours... Having worked at Simply since 2009, I have found that every session is as unique as my clients, whether as an individual or as a couple.

Life brings with it a variety of challenges, pressures, expectations and uncertainties, and under the weight of all this you may struggle to feel like yourself or the person you want to be. I've been in that place myself and it can make you feel overwhelmed, lost, and confused about what to do or who to turn to. I can offer a safe, reflective space away from the outside world where you can gain clarity and express yourself authentically without judgement or expectation. I believe that each person has the right and ability to thrive as the unique individual they are so I work to create a counselling experience that is essentially for and about you and your needs. I have a degree and keen interest in Psychology and have years of experience working as a Person-Centred counsellor with a variety of mental difficulties and relationship problems. Outside of counselling I love travelling, dancing, walking and losing myself in a good book or movie.

Catherine
Hi I’m Catherine, a student counsellor who is passionate and experienced in working with a person-centred approach.

I offer a safe, welcoming and compassionate space with no judgement about what we discuss. We will work at your pace and explore whatever you choose to share. Together we will gain some understanding and clarity about what you’re experiencing and talk about how you might like to feel differently.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, stress, relationship issues and much more. I have also supported military veterans in outdoor therapy.

When I’m not at work, I love spending time wildlife watching or in the sea.

Anna
I am a counsellor in my last year of training in counselling and psychotherapy. I believe that suffering and pain have a universal language with the power to connect one soul to another. Counselling is the relationship of this connection which provides a safe environment and a non-judgmental attitude. Perhaps you feel as if your feet are a little unsteady or you just want to find your way back to yourself. Perhaps the storms in your life have left you shaken, and you would like to trace your steps back, and heal. I will not promise to be your guide, but I will for sure be your companion on your journey towards self-healing. I am a passionate counsellor that followed her dream of becoming who I am today. My passions are being out in nature, collecting pebbles and reading. Nevertheless, I am a mother of two with a loving partner.

Martyn
Hi. I'm Martyn. I'm a Level 4 qualified counsellor. My approach is integrative meaning that I draw from various theoretical approaches including Person centred, Gestalt, CBT, and Transpersonal. This means that my approach is designed to meet the specific needs of individual clients. I would consider myself to be relatively direct with a no-nonsense approach.
When I am not at Simply Counselling I am a support worker looking after the welfare of people with special educational needs. I'm also a musician with a passion for creativity.
I offer a warm, and safe space in which I support clients to explore their personal experiences in a non-judgemental way.

Lilian
Life can feel overwhelming at times, whether due to sudden challenges, long-term struggles or the realization that what once felt normal no longer does. Whether we are navigating a recent crisis or trying to understand long standing life’s patterns, I believe we all hold the wisdom needed for growth and well-being.

As a holistic-relational-integrative counsellor, I take into account both personal and intergenerational trauma whilst working with the mind, body, and emotions in the present moment. Using mindfulness and a compassionate approach, I help clients process unresolved experiences and explore how these shape their different kinds of relationships and daily lives.

My endeavour is to create a supportive space where clients can make sense of their inner/outer experiences and reorganise it; fostering clarity, balance, repair broken relationships, rediscover a sense of wholeness and a deeper connection to themselves and their lives.

Having done integrative counselling, Systemic Family Constellations, psychology and more, I have the ability to draw from different approaches and adapt my method to meet each client’s unique needs; helping them re-discover a path of healing and regain confidence in daily life. Breaking the cycle of trauma empowers.

Martyn C
I am a trainee counsellor, nearing the final year of my studies. For the past 20 years I've been a writer and journalist, with much of that time dedicated to working with peoplle to tell their stories. As I transition into counselling, the aim is the same, helping people explore their own experiences, struggles and ambitions so they can more fully understand their own journey. Working with a person-centred approach, I offer a safe environment that's free of judgement, where we take the time to disentangle the various strands that life can wrap around us. I believe we all know our own stories btter than anyone, but we often haven't heard them fully until we tell someone else.

Hanna
I am currently working towards the end of my training as an Integrative Counsellor although I am also a dancer, pilates teacher and massage therapist. I have always had an interest in both the body and the mind and the strength of this connection. I enjoy working with people and I use the skills I have learned in these different holistic modalities to offer a warm, non judgemental space, where clients are able to share and explore their own experiences.

I believe we are the experts in our own stories and hold the power within us to create change. I help enable this by meeting the client where they are, listening to their thoughts and feelings without judgement and holding the space for them to be truly heard.

Jenny
Hi, my name is Jenny, I am nearing qualification as an integrative counsellor, and I work at Simply Counselling with clients who wish to explore their life’s journey in a Person Centred way. Together we talk and create a safe and courageous space to face life’s challenges - past, current, and future - and see which ways through them might work for you.

Each of our lives is individual, precious, and has purpose - but sometimes we get stuck, feeling lost or overwhelmed. Counselling takes the old adage: “a problem shared is a problem halved” and expands on it; it is so helpful to know a counsellor is on your side no matter what, and is there for the hardest conversations.
My counselling style is gentle but frank. As my client, you choose our direction and pace, and I offer care and understanding in the service of meeting life’s difficulties.

Together we work to grow a sense of empowerment and to find a way forward in living well, however that looks for you.
Jenny
Michelle
Since you are looking at my profile, I imagine you are hoping to get a sense of what kind of counsellor I might be for you. I work with adults and young adults, offering person-centred counselling face to face, online and via telephone. I aim to create a professional, yet relaxed space where you don’t need to pretend or have things figured out. I ask questions to better understand who you are, what you’ve been through, and what’s brought you to counselling. I have a special interest in stress, shame, low self-esteem, abandonment and trust issues.
I qualified as a nurse over 20 years ago and work mostly in the NHS. I have always been invested in supporting people from all backgrounds through times of difficulty. I am currently in the final year of my counselling training, bringing together years of clinical experience with ongoing learning. This shapes a humanistic, direct, collaborative and respectful approach that values your lived experience, respects your autonomy, and supports you in building trust in yourself. Your time with me will be just that — yours. I can offer you space to explore what’s feeling difficult, at your own pace, and work towards changes that feel right for you.

Beth (Admin and Counsellor)
Hi, I'm Beth. As well as office administrator for Simply Counselling, I am also a qualified Integrative Therapist. The most important thing in the world to me, are those deep conversations, the ones you can't/don't have with your friends or work colleagues. I am passionate about offering a space for people to share their thoughts, no matter how dark or grim, and for them to be heard, validated and held. My only agenda is to be with each individual person, exactly where they are. Not from the top of the trench, but in there with them, by their side.
Beth (Admin and Counsellor)
